What you will be able to do
- Perform venepuncture safely and competently under supervision
- Apply correct patient identification and sample labelling practice

- Recognise and respond to complications during collection
Curriculum
- 01
Anatomy and site selection
Venous anatomy and choosing an appropriate collection site.

Safety and infection prevention
Personal protective equipment, sharps handling and exposure response.

Collection technique
Order of draw, tube selection and correct venepuncture technique.

Sample integrity
Labelling, handling, storage and transport conditions.
- 05
Supervised practical hours
Assessed practice under direct supervision. These hours are mandatory and must be completed before certification is awarded.
Entry requirements
- A background in a health, nursing or laboratory discipline
- Ability to attend in person for the supervised practical component
